CL Flick: Borderland: The Life and Times of Blanche Ames Ames

April 24, 2023 @ 7:30 pm

CL Flick: Borderland: The Life and Times of Blanche Ames Ames will be shown at 7:30 pm in the Large Meeting Room. The film chronicles the life of this visionary woman, a leading suffragette in the struggle for voter rights and women’s equality. Also an inventor, writer, and political activist, the film was released to commemorate the 100t anniversary of the 19th amendment and links that era to today’s political climate. Blanche Ames was a Renaissance woman, inventor, author, and brilliant artist (botanical illustration, landscape, portraits) who used her political cartoons to advance the pro-suffrage cause. The film, including the family’s roots in American history, also showcases the magnificent Borderland estate, now a state park and monument to her work. (She was the mother of Amyas Ames who created Brookhaven’s Nature Path.)
