Learn how strength training is an important activity for older adults to achieve better health and fitness and how resistance exercise is effective for (1) attaining a desirable body weight, (2) maintaining favorable body composition (fat and muscle ratio), (3) recharging metabolism, (4) increasing bone density, (5) regulating blood sugar, (6) decreasing blood pressure, (7) improving blood lipids, and (8) enhancing mental and emotional health. Learn how you can incorporate strength training and experience its’ many benefits by performing just 20-30 minutes of appropriately designed and properly executed resistance exercise just twice a week!
PRESENTER BIO – Rita La Rosa Loud
Rita La Rosa Loud, holds a B.S., in Exercise Physiology with additional education in Sports Medicine and Athletic Training from UMass Boston. She is NASM Certified and is actively involved in the fitness industry for over 35 years. Rita is a Fitness Researcher and Directs the COVID compliant Wayne Westcott, Ph.D. Center for Health and Fitness at Quincy College.
