STEM Lecture: John Myers: Aspects of Quantum Physics

The STEM Lecture, Aspects of Quantum Physics by resident John Myers will be given at 10:30 am in the Performance Hall and streaming. Where do our iPhones get the time from? Clocks in an iPhone tell time, but other clocks make time. I’ll discuss how time as a theory and clock making as a practice co-evolve in ways not always predictable. Illustrations range from Galileo’s design of 1637 to F1, the time standard at the National Institutes of Science and Technology.
