2017 Lexington Community Senior Wellness Fair
Brookhaven hosts 3rd Annual Lexington Community Senior Wellness Fair
Brookhaven received its third grant from the Dana Home Foundation to organize and host a Lexington Community Senior Wellness Fair. This year, the Fair took place on October 17th at the Scottish Rite Museum and Library.
The purpose of the event is to connect area seniors with a wide variety of not for profit providers providing resources that support to encourage healthy, active aging. Over 150 area seniors attended and enjoyed access to several local organizations including: CareGroup Parmenter, Cary Memorial Library, FISH, Lexington at Home, Lex Eat Together, Lexington Fire Department, Lexington Food Pantry, Lexington Health & Human Services, Lexington Recreation Department, Lexington Veterans Service Agent, Minuteman Senior Services, Mt. Auburn LifeLine, Nature Connection, Neighbor Brigade, and The Perkins School.
The Fair also included a Flu Vaccination Clinic sponsored by the Town of Lexington, free snacks, chair massages, balance assessments, and information on advanced care planning. Lunch was provided and Charlotte Rodgers, Director of Health & Human Services for the Town of Lexington, and her staff spoke about the wide array of services that are available to Lexington seniors. Brookhaven is grateful to the Dana Home Foundation for providing the grant that allowed us to bring seniors together to learn about local resources and healthy aging options.
