Join us for an Art Committee Conversation with Martha Wright at 3:30 pm in the Large Meeting Room on Japanese Art. Ten shin en, the Japanese Garden at the MFA. Boston, specifically Designed for the setting, is a microcosm of the universe reflecting many additional wonders within: history, landscape, literature, philosophy, meditation and a glimpse into cultural values past and present. All packed into one small space, it can be a painting, a song, a portrait, or a view into the sacred and the playful, the infinite and the minute, the mindful and the quotidian. This slide lecture will also touch one principles of metaphorical significance in comparable garden arts in other parts of Asia.
