The Brookhaven Friends of Music welcomes “Joyful Voices of Inspiration” with an exciting program of Gospel Music at 3:00 pm in the Performance Hall and streaming. The choir is not aligned with any faith or denomination, but represents people from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds who find joy and power in the music and the message of the gospel. Choir members range in age from 30-70 years and have toured in Europe since 1999. Shortly after their first tour in Italy they were incorporated as a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the appreciation of black gospel music and interracial harmony throughout the world. The choir is directed by Donnell L. Patterson, Minister of Music at St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Cambridge for 20 years, and Director of the Roland Hayes School of Music in Boston. He attended the New England Conservatory of Music and received Master’s degrees in Music from both the University of South Florida and Harvard University. In 2005, Patterson became Director of Music at Belmont Hill School.
