BLC Lecture: Gerald Keusch – Taking the BS out of the BSL (Bio-Safety Levels): What research labs do and how they do it.

May 24, 2023 @ 7:30 pm

With the building of a biology research facility on the doorstep of Brookhaven, the Brookhaven Lecture Committee thought it would be good to invite a real expert on bio-lab safety to speak to our community. Dr. Gerald Keusch is the Associate Director of the National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratory at Boston University, the only facility in New England and the northeast equipped to work on the most dangerous viruses. A member of the National Academy of Medicine, Dr. Keusch has co-directed studies on global surveillance for emerging infectious diseases as well as clinical research during pandemic emergencies (Ebola). He will share the sense of what it’s like to work on the world’s worst bugs. Join us at 7:30 pm in the Performance Hall and streaming.
