Ensemble Chaconne returns to Brookhaven with The Splendid Century: Court and Salon Music in France, 1650-1750 at 7:30 pm in the Performance Hall and streaming. The ensemble (Peter H. Bloom, baroque flute; Carol Lewis, viola da gamba; and Olav Chris Henriksen, baroque lute, baroque guitar, and theorbo) will perform gems by Marin Marais, François Couperin, Jean Marie Leclair, Elisabeth-Claude Jacquet de la Guerre, and other legendary composers in the dazzling courts of Louis XIV and Louis XV. Founded in 1985, Ensemble Chaconne concertizes widely in the U.S. and abroad. They’ve been called “a powerhouse of great playing” (Classical Voice of North Carolina) and praised for “vitality and character, style and verve” (MusicWeb International).
