The internationally acclaimed duo of Peter H. Bloom, flute, and John Funkhouser, piano, will perform an exhilarating tribute to Duke Ellington and his extraordinary collaborators Billy Strayhorn, Juan Tizol, and Mercer Ellington, titled Exuberant Ellingtonia. Peter and John bring virtuosity and inventiveness to beloved classics like Take the A Train, Caravan, Things Ain’t What They Used To Be, and In a Sentimental Mood, as well as lesser-known gems like Prelude to a Kiss, Isfahan, and East Saint Louis Toodle-Oo. Peter and John have performed together for 30 years. They’ve been called “master musicians” (CultureJazz.France), “stirring and technically impressive” (AllAboutJazz.com), and hailed for “jubilation in their swinging performances” (Textura Magazine).
