The Brain and the Mind Lecture Series continues with Why and How Should We Study the Human Brain? at 4:30 pm in the Performance Hall and streaming. “What is the brain and how does it work?” This talk, by Joshua Sanes, will present brain basics: What is the brain made of? How does it connect with the body? What do we need to do to understand it? What is the difference between studying the brain and studying the mind? What are some of the ways in which it can break? Sanes is a Professor at Harvard and was the Founding Director of Harvard’s Center for Brain Science. His own research has focused on how the brain wires up as it develops to form the complex circuits that underlie mental activities.
