The STEM Lecture: Human Factors Engineering by resident Tom Sheridan will be given at 10:30 am in the Performance Hall and streaming. This is a relatively new and little understood professional field. Engineers who also have training in experimental psychology or cognitive science tackle critical problems of safety and efficiency at the human-technology interface. Tom will relate examples from his own experience in aviation and highway vehicle control, nuclear power, human-automation interaction and robotics.
